A month of new beginnings.
- first gym session of the year: thighs and butt aching now.
- first EDTC shift of the new year: utter hell.
- first meetup with a friend: pyn’s return.
- starting a blog scrapbook (idea stolen from lynn stolen from LJ ideas)
- first drama of the year: Dating on Earth. (I CRIED laughing.)
- first step towards supplementing income. Stocks, please, please, please rise.

1. What did you do in 2009 that you’d never done before?
Flew to another country to watch a concert. TWICE XD

2. Did you keep your new years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
No, didn’t make any.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
No. We’re still awaiting the marriages of the three cousins older than myself.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
No.

5. What countries did you visit?
Hong Kong, China, Japan. *is pleased with self*

6. What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009?
More confidence and more competency. More time and more money.

7. What date from 2009 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
30 August – the date of Plastic Tree’s concert. I can’t really recall specific dates for memorable days.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
I got through housemanship.
And I got through Beijing.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Ha. It’s kinda traumatic to talk about it, even now.

10.Did you suffer illness or injury?
I’m certain I had at least bronchitis when I was doing my paediatric posting. Was coughing my lungs out for an entire month despite three courses of antibiotics.

11.What was the best thing you bought?
My h.naoto stuff. My iPhone. Life will never be the same again.

12.Whose behavior merited celebration?
lynn, for roughing it out with me and tolerating my DBSK raving when she doesn’t fandom them.
Taiki-senpai and the fridge, for listening to me after I did all my career-ending antics.

13.Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Oh, mine.
I can swallow what others to do me.

14.Where did most of your money go?
The traveling and the overseas loot.
For online shopping, it’s a tossup between DBSk and Plastic Tree.

15.What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Going overseas. Watching the concerts. Being in Japan again.
(Sorry, I had probably just 2-3 highlights in my life in 2009.)

16.What song will always remind you of 2009?
DBSK’s Stand By U. Partly because it’s the background music for their lawsuit woe.

17.Compared to this time last year, are you happier or sadder?
Sadder. Last year, I had a clear goal in mind: get through housemanship.
This year, I have no direction.

18.What do you wish you’d done more of?
Sleep. Exercise. Save money.

19.What do you wish you’d done less of?
Procrastinate.

20.How did you spend Christmas?
Lying in bed the entire day because of a bout of food poisoning. Missed the Christmas buffet lunch with my family. And went to work (resus MO!) at 9pm; nearly fainted there.
No, not good. I was on call on Christmas last year, so I guess it’s an improvement.

22.Did you fall in love in 2009?
Yes.

23.How many one-night stands?
None

24.What was your favorite TV program?
I don’t watch TV. Didn’t really follow an anime series that I fell utterly in love with, either.

25.Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?
No.

26.What was the best book you read?
I…can’t remember if I read anything of consequence. Jumpa Lahiri, maybe.

27.What was your greatest musical discovery?
DBSK. (hurhur). Syrup16g, Grapevine, Matenrou Opera.

28.What did you want and get?
Plastic Tree’s releases this year.
More sleeping time; and a weight loss of 2 kg – all thanks to the current ED posting.

29.What did you want and not get?
Can’t think of anything.

30.What was your favorite film of this year?
I’d say Coraline, but it was just a tad draggy.

31.What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Went out for dinner at Nagomi. Beautiful place, wonderful food, charming owner. Turned 25.

32.What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Not screwing up.

33.How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2009?
Long, shapeless, black, and…lacey/frilly! OMG. There was a time where I steered clear from anything with lace or ruffles.

The concept of home.

Music
My usual fandoms, Plastic Tree and MUCC. I watched Plastic Tree live at Nippon Budokan, which seems like a huge lifetime away now; loved the Fukurou single and am now listening to the latest Dona Dona album. *pauses* I watched Plastic Tree live. It’s unbelievable.

MUCC is epic, as always. Loved Sora to Ito, and their album, Kyuutai.

The other bands I couldn’t get enough of:
Matenrou Opera. Dizzying melodies on a background of metal, with a brilliant vocalist. It’s exhilarating listening to their music.

Syrup16g. Although they’ve disbanded, I only started listening to them after MUCC’s vocalist Tatsurou recommended them. Very raw sound, just the antidote to too much vkei poseuring.

Deluhi. I couldn’t stop looping their first few singles, Hybrid Truth being my absolute favourite. Sadly, they’ve gotten less interesting with subsequent releases.

Last but definitely not least: DBSK. It’s really different being part of a mainstream fandom, for once. Spawned many chats of self-denial and mutual sinning between rie and me. DBSK, I watched k-dramas for you and went to Beijing for you. PLEASE BLOODY STAY TOGETHER.

As a spin-off, I discovered Flower, a Korean poprock band (solely because Jaejoong covered their song, Crying) that’s apparently very famous in Korea yet so old that the CD shops no longer stock their albums! T_T

Anime/Manga
Gundam 00 Season 2: A okay ride, but not very intriguing. The life of the series went out for me after Lockon Stratos left.

Fullmetal Alchemist: I started reading the manga from scratch, and wondered why I didn’t do so earlier.

Travel
HongKong in April.
Beijing in June.
Tokyo/Kyoto in August/September.

People
CoRngress: always good to meet up with you guys! Let’s have one again soon.

DLP: I have yet to proceed with my life-changing experience, but yours is absolutely fantastic.

rie: my soulmate; ever more so this year, when we found something that we fangirled about to the same extent. ALTHOUGH the guys we fangirl are still different! plhu-rie classics came back in full force this year.

lynn: er, whatever happened to that JE-boys-turned-indie-rockers fic! I want my Ryuutarou/Kaede!

asterisk: sent off min/shuui, but met up with them again in Tokyo. Got closer to those who were left behind and met the photographer trio. And..Amanda! You rock, girl, but you’re leaving so soon!

Am now reading book one of the Mortal Instruments trilogy by Cassandra Clare. Trashy, wicked, witty and awfully exciting. I love huddling in bed with a real book; but it gets too dark for reading in the car after dinner. She references Trigun, how cool is that!

It was EOY yesterday. Am glad I dragged myself out of the house to appear. Photos later! But I saw hide-san and Simon-san so I’m happy.

I chose to have a near-fainting spell at the most embarrassing moment EVER -helping the neurosurgical registrar translate a patient’s gravely ill status to something like eight family members. Ran back into the resus room and crouched on a stool, how mortifying.   Checked my blood sugar and my blood pressure – all dandy. Didn’t think of doing a postural, ah well.

Heading to EOY in a cab now. The rain’s fierce.  

Today morning, after drifting in and out of sleep with abdominal discomfort and nausea ( even dreamt I was going for a CT scan of the abdomen, WTF), I threw up yesterday’s kimchi jigae, the spice burning my oesophagus and throat on the way up.

Still burping kimchi-flavoured gas even now, omg. I don’t think I’ll be touching Korean food for a long while.  

I’m really hoping that the vomiting and diarrhea gets done before night shift starts tonight. (there’s only so much gunk my digestive tract can hold, right.)

The first book is the photobook with shots from their lives; the second book encloses the DVDs; and the third houses the guitar picks. Very, very pretty.

And yes, that’s what I’ll be doing over Christmas.

Got the set with steamed hotate rice and chicken/egg broth. 751 kcal!!

Then went on to ION, where we fell in love with the stationery at Kikik.K.

But the real highlight of the evening was the window shopping.

The moment we saw this in Topshop, we thought, “OMG this is so Hachi!” Wriggled into the coats laughing our heads off. It’s just so not our style! The guy at the neighbouring rack told his female companion, “those two look so cute together.” LOL. Excuse me for the lack of eye contact.

More window shopping; but I finally succumbed at River Island.
