After work I watched High School Musical 3 with my sister, despite not having watched the first two movies. I figured, since she’s ended A levels, she deserves a bit of indulgence.

The songs themselves were rather forgettable. My favourite sequences were the junkyard one and the rooftop waltz. Oh, and anything with Ryan. Especially when he’s doing that car-wiper thing with his hands when coaching the lead pair in the dance. That guy’s got style XD (and it takes much courage to wear hot pink trousers, doesn’t it.) He’s…the High School Musical equivalent of Leeron from Gurren Lagann!

And I was watching it with my sister, just fresh from A levels and contemplating what to do with her life. It brought back memories of the days where people were just madly sending in applications to universities and scholarship boards. I ended up doing what I’m doing now because I just couldn’t think of anything else to do. Diagnosis of exclusion, not really of choice, lol. Not everyone gets a brilliant triple-win situation like Troy, of course. (In an alternate future, I might have ended up at Berkley.) I’m now almost at the next stage where I’ll really have to think hard about what I want. Again, it might just be a diagnosis of exclusion. All my life, the things I’ve felt strongly about don’t really involve this line. That handbell choir? Floating in dreamland somewhere.

We had very good cause to celebrate too, as one longstayer was finally discharged from hospital just a few days ago. He stayed so long that all of us had cared for him during our rotations.
I MSN-ed qich:

[edited for ease of reading]

me: want to take Japanese classes with me? mosquitogal doesn’t want to take with me cos the timing I want is not convenient for her.
qich: can we call the school now?
me: woah okay you call. my room no phone.
qich: *calls the school* the Jan intake gotta wait for the class to be full. You want to start in December instead?
me: Next month I’m in Renal and you’re in Gastro. You sure can or not.
qich: CAN LAH. I book ah.
me: okay lor. Start earlier can complete earlier.
qich: Okay gotta pay the $$ by 30 November.

and YOU call me impulsive? Now hoping that mosquitogal can join us too XD

And…I have to seriously start thinking harder about career choices.

Have changed the car for good. I’ll really miss my Daihatsu. I’m not used to the larger dimensions of the WRX and have already scraped the front while missing a U-turn very badly. The BEST thing about the WRX is the stereo, which has equalizer settings and all, which means I don’t just hear Ryuutarou, I hear the rest of the band! YIPPEE. Now to burn more epic mp3s from other artistes as well. Didn’t want to stop driving because that’d mean the end of the music. Yes, the best stereo set I have sits in my car. What to do. Have been trying to find a name for this car, but the only thing that keeps coming to mind is VIRTUE (and you gotta pronounce it the way Tieria does). No way. NOOO WAAAAAAY.

It’s the end of my leave. The weather is now bright, warm, and utterly abominable with streaks of sunlight creeping in through my shades. I’m more a drizzle person.

Photos ahead:

So on Monday, I met up with WQ for lunch. We ended up at Santouka Ramen. It’s a small, cozy establishment. They gave me a wicker basket for placing my bag, nice gesture.

Tokusen Toroniku Ramen. Rather hefty price of $18 per bowl, but it comes with a generous plate of toroniku. Very salty, but very savoury. I got the shio ramen, so I was very appreciative of the huge jug of iced water at our table. The ramen isn’t that springy; soup is incredibly rich and milky, with a generous covering of oil. In all, a very guilty meal. I haven’t eaten at Ken’s Noodle House for ages, but I really should return to compare it with all the newer establishments that have been springing up.

Shared a plate of Chashu. Well-flavoured and tender, though not within the melt-in-your-mouth category.

Coffee/dessert at Paisley and Cream.

Shared a set of 4 mini-cupcakes. Not a cupcake fan, and wasn’t made a convert.

On Tuesday evening I met up with half the CoRngress (we’re always at half-strength these days…miniCoRngregation) for dinner at TCC. Well, TCC’s food is edible but expensive. It’s just a nice place for catching up. Like…”Hey do you realise that our 10th graduation anniversary is coming up soon?”, “Did you do that freakin’ survey that asked if you inbred?” and “I have really weird neighbours who stare at turtles at 12noon.”

My Coffee Nut Chix - a grilled chicken sandwich topped with coffee gravy studded with pine nuts. (You know, like coffee pork ribs at zi char places.) Very tasty.

And added to our sins by ordering one drink each. Akidsuki - soymilk and red bean; (was that the name? Wait, isn’t that the Bakumatsu lead…) and Matcha/redbean.

CoRngregation will occur every month. Make no mistake.

I am having withdrawal symptoms after finishing 131 chapters of SKIP BEAT within 2 days. I didn’t do anything other than click through onemanga and go out. It is now agony to have to wait for chapters; just like it’s agony to wait for Claymore and Ouran. Now to start on the FMA manga, which I’m sure will take me much longer to read because spending 2 seconds on each page just isn’t going to be enough.

*stares guiltily at very messy room* dang I really want a cozy uncluttered room like min’s. WHY DO I HAVE SO MUCH STUFF! *starts throwing out clothes that haven’t been worn for the past 6 months*

Yesterday I met up with a classmate for lunch. Well, all we talked about was medicine; refreshing since I’ve done Medicine and he’s done Paediatrics, and we both did Surgery at the same place. Then met up with ying and min for dinner in town and some window shopping that became real shopping.

Sigh I wish lazy days would continue indefinitely.

Things to be done:

1. CLEAR UP MY ROOM AND TOTALLY REORGANISE ALL THE SHIT THAT I HAVE. Like the pile of stuff from Europe. And the other pile of stuff from Taipei. And the pile of stuff from M5. ARGH.

2. Fill in logbook.

3. Project Ref.

4. Gym. Jog. Lose weight. Hydrate self with 2 litres of fluid each day. My consultant was looking at a patient’s intake chart and saying, “Tch, only took in 700mls yesterday? TOO LITTLE!” And I meekly said, “Err…that’s my average fluid intake per day.” My consultant unfeelingly retorted, “You’re different. You’re a HO. You have no time to drink.”

5. Try on my AFA outfit and hope that I can still find the wig (which I have yet to use, woe.)

6. Unroll my Plastic Tree poster and put it on my wall. Am very inspired after seeing min’s room again today. I have realised that my infatuation with Ryuutarou is at most 20% power compared to her.

That’s…enough for four days…what with the meeting ups that are going to happen as well.

And projects that might just happen next year, in no particular order:
[edit]
1. Project BROCADE/CURTAIN/TABLECLOTH.
2. Project LIGHTNING.
3. Project STEAMPUNK. (eh ying!!!)
4. Project BACCANO.
5. Project KAINE.
6. Project CORE DRILL.
7. Project SPIDER.

So I went down to the SISTIC box office to get a refund for my ToC tickets. Behind me were a trio of teenagers who were Atreyu fans. Ah, apparently the promoter went bust. -_- ONE DAY! IN JAPAN!

friday five that I stole from kat’s:

1. Could you live without your phone for 1 week for $500?
Definitely. Heck, I’d pay you if you could let me live without my phone for 1 week.

2. Whom do you talk to on the phone the most?
The BTSMO! I called him so many times during yesterday’s call requesting for blood products. Yeah, haem/onco patients, what to do.

3. Whom do you no longer talk to on the phone but wish you still did?
Any of those people I could hold mega-conversations with during secondary school.

4. If you could get ahold of one celebrity phone number, whose digits would you want?
No point T_T I can’t speak the same language.

5. Do you talk on the phone more or less than you used to?
Work phone: definitely a lot more.
