plhu-rie exchanges: The Day that Gackt Shook Our Hands.
I’ll explain the title eventually in this post! After putting you readers through a long drabble of how my day went, of course.
I met rie for lunch at Mr Curry. Our original plan to sing KTV at Ang Mo Kio was shelved because of her sore throat. On my way there, I was wracked with the worst cramps I’ve had for a few years; bought paracetamol, gulped it down; and proceeded to writh with agony on the couch at Mr Curry while rie oohed and aahed over the DBSK’s Prince in Prague photobook I’d passed her. I’d also brought along a Yunho postcard for her. (The photoboook and postcard are key items in today’s storytelling. Please remember them.)
My cramps had thankfully subsided enough for me to make an order.
me: I’ll have cold green tea, please.
rie: er, won’t cold tea make your cramps worse? you should drink hot tea.
me: but my womb isn’t connected to my gut!
rie: you freakin’ doctor.
me: really what!
rie: but heat travels via CONDUCTION.
me: you freakin’ engineer.

My chicken and mushroom omelette rice. Got the extra-spicy curry this time round, which isn’t all that spicy, actually. (I miss COCO Ichiban Curry!)
We went over to Isetan Scotts to eyeball the Black Alice booth. Got stuck at the basement watching an Okinawan drum troupe. I’d wanted to pass something to Alanna in person, but had to leave it with her colleague as she was out on her lunch break. rie and I went downstairs and hung around the accessories section for a bit.
As we were leaving, we passed by a group of Japanese people. I thought, “That tall guy in the centre is really, really gorgeous.”
rie dragged me to a counter. “PL, that’s GACKT.”
me: OMG. *recalls news that Gackt’s in town with some of his fanclub members.* OMG. OMG. OMG.
rie: Argh let’s get an autograph!
We dug through our bags, only to realise that the only things we had that were suitable for autographing were…the Prince in Prague photobook, and the Yunho postcard.
HOW FAR WE HAVE FALLEN! OMG. The world really just crashed down on us. And I was actually contemplating bringing one of my jrock magazines along that day to show rie some of the photoshoots, but didn’t as I was rushing for time. OMG. SIGH. It had Gackt in it!!!!!!
Gackt and his entourage were leaving. He had four or five other men with him (probably his band?), and a lady, probably the manager? Gackt was in a shirt, three-quarter trousers, and loafers. He’s really tall and very slim; eyes hidden behind sunglasses, but he’s still really, really gorgeous and totally charismatic.
We ran up and accosted them. rie was no use, she was a speechless lump of human after her first “sumimasen!”
us: sumimasen!
me: ano…Gackt-san desu ne?
Gackt: Eh. (OMG his voice!)
us: err…shashin…*forgot how to ask properly*
guy next to me (incredibly cute fellow too): *says something about how we can’t take a photo with Gackt*
*awkward silence*
Gackt: 新加坡人吗?
us: *omg Gackt’s speaking Mandarin to us!*
me: 是, 新加坡人!
Gackt: 你住在这边吗?
me: 啊,对! *er, if I’m Singaporean and in Singapore, I’m obviously living in Singapore, right?*
Gackt: *smiles and reaches out to shake my hand*
me: *happily grasps Gackt’s hand* 欢迎来到新加坡!
Gackt: *smiles wider, then reaches to shake rie’s hand*
rie: *shakes Gackt’s hand* ……….
And the group mumbled something in Japanese that I couldn’t catch, we all bowed, and they left.
OMG.
OMG.
OMG.
OMG.
Very shell-shocked, rie and I walked to Far East Plaza, knees still trembling. rie called her friend, and I called raydance simultaneously. Raydance said, “er, don’t wash your hand!” Bet she was killing herself for not being there, lol. The funny thing was, neither of us are fans of Gackt’s music now. I’m a Malice Mizer fan first; and rie only likes the earlier albums of his solo career. But we’ve never denied that he’s a brilliant vocalist, and an absoutely gorgeous one to boot. We’re wondering if Gackt was there watching the Okinawan troupe, or at the Okinawa fair at Isetan’s basement as that’s his hometown.
If we hadn’t been in town because we’d decided not to sing, if I hadn’t needed to pass something to raydance, if rie hadn’t stopped to look at the accessories, we’d never have met Gackt! And it just HAS got to be with rie because she’s the one who’s walked the deepest and furthest with me in the world of jrock, even though we’ve never really liked the same bands to the same extent.
Went on to Far East Plaza, where I nearly bought a gorgeous black jacket/skirt that cost $200. ARGH ARGH ARGH ARGH ARGH. I would have SO bought it if I hadn’t already spent so much on a dress a few days ago *cries* rie got herself a necklace.
And then shuffled back to Isetan for tea at MOS Burger. We Twittered about the afternoon’s events:

rie met my fridge at MOS Burger. She approves, lol! Then did some minor shopping at The Face Shop and Kinokuniya.
And that was it. I’ll probably see rie in the flesh again only in December next year T_T But perhaps I’ll jet over to the States next year. ARGH SEE HOW LAH. MONEY MONEY MONEY!
