Day 9: Why I liked Italy best
Lake Como turned out to be my favourite stop of the trip. The weather was good (not THAT cold); the sights we saw were a good mix between scenery and quaint architecture; the FOOD WAS THE BEST WE GOT ON THE TRIP and pretty affordable at that; the people were friendly; the accomodation was luxurious by budget standards. Our daily programme was also relaxed, such that the cold and weariness didn’t take away any of the pleasure from sight-seeing.
There wasn’t much to do, so we’d watch MTV - no understanding needed. I caught a commerical for Tokio Hotel once, but not them singing. I also liked the music here the most as Italian is such a good language for delivering songs packed with emotion; the songs themselves are quite contemporary and easily likeable. Try L’amore and I Believe by Sonohra, an Italian brother-duo (Okay, Ruth and I were also suckered by the eye candy).I can’t find an English biography, but they’re Luca and Diego Fainello. I assume Luca is the older-looking, blonde one; and Diego is the black-haired younger one who does most of the singing.
There were more songs we liked, but we didn’t note the artist or song titles. There were several middle-aged rock bands as well, all looking mafia-ish till they removed their sunglasses, whereupon they looked uncle-ish; but the music is still good! MTV in Europe is great because they don’t have the R&B and hiphop stuff that dominates American MTV; and they also have British acts from time to time XD
