X JAPAN reunites
X JAPAN is reuniting.
Well, I’ve been reading various accounts on the Net.
According to Suponichi, YOSHIKI is in talks with X-JAPAN guitarist PATA and X-JAPAN bassist HEATH in reuniting and having ten different guitarists perform Hide’s part for various songs.
Also, with the rumors of YOSHIKI and TOSHI not getting along, that rumor appears to be debunked. The article said that after the recording of the song “Without You”, both discussed reuniting. [Source: J-ENT!]
And plans are pretty concrete:
X Japan are reuniting for a new song and their worldwide debut, finally confirming the rumours that have been flying around the internet for the past year!
The song I.V will be the main theme song for the film, ‘SAW IV’ - an incredibly successful horror series. Written and produced by Yoshiki, I.V will be entirely sung in English by Toshi with guitars and bass provided by Pata and Heath. The song will furthermore feature unreleased material by hide, thereby meaning that I.V involves all five members of X Japan.
While a release date for I.V has not yet been confirmed, the film is released in cinemas on October 26 in both the USA and in the UK.
X Japan meanwhile will shoot the promotional video for I.V at Tokyo’s Odaiba Aqua City on October 22. [source: JaME USA]
I’m having mixed feelings about this. I’ve always been rather upset that I got to know X Japan only after they had broken up, and shortly after hide passed away; but then again I was spared the anguish of a fan reading news of those events. I’m happy that they’re getting back together and releasing new material, but I’m irrationally afraid that people won’t like what they’re going to come up with, or that they won’t achieve an adequate level of success with their comeback. I’m telling myself to have faith in the members. Face it, Yoshiki’s SKIN project isn’t that great, but it could just be because the members don’t really gel in the first place.
It just hit me that hide’s been gone for nearly ten years.

..this is interesting, because incidentally, Luna Sea is reuniting too. Albeit for one night only *sighs heavily*. Apparenlty a concert on christmas eve. I’m very upset i am not there >.< Ditto the mixed feelings for the xjapan reunion. Somehow it doesn’t seem quite right at all….
